Now almost all bus drivers in this country are on strike. And most people seem to be very supportive of them.

There are voices that believe that it is simply not possible to attack in these “crown times.” Do we not have enough of before, more or less, if we do not have problems going to school and work? A timely question, but so far this seems to be improving in everyday life.

Most of the people are smart and therefore they find smart solutions, like using the electric scooters. We now see the fantastic contribution that these donations, despite the filming problems, make to our transportation system.

When bus drivers go on strike, they mean the 2007 bus industry agreement. It says in black and white that bus drivers should rise to the level of the average industrial worker wage. 13 years later, the pay gap is still 40,000 and “development” has stopped.

In other words, there is good reason to believe that the bus drivers have been very patient. Now they think it will be enough.

There are some, especially employers, who do not understand that this is something to complain about. Exactly that is really understandable. Last year, Vy buss CEO Ole Engebret Haugen was able to raise an annual salary of just under 3.3 million. So it’s no wonder to understand that have I don’t understand that 40,000 in the year for some it is a lot of money. Engebret Haugen wins 275,000 in the month!

There is reason to remember this: during the crown crisis, it is bus drivers who are on the list of critical social functions. Not Ole Engebret Haugen.

The strike intervenes directly in the debate on the difference-Norway. According to Statistics Norway, Norway is now in line with the UK in terms of inequality. Class society never disappeared with Einar Gerhardsen, but in recent years development has accelerated, in a negative direction. Everyone from time to time, even the leaders of the Conservatives and the Progress Party, likes to boast about the “little differences” in Norway. Now this story is cracking.

To be honest, I’m not particularly interested in the Capital’s list of the 400 richest in the country. I don’t care if shipowner Fredriksen lost 40 billion or made 40 billion. It has even become Cypriot for tax reasons. The wife of betrayal must be sought for a long time.

But I am very concerned about the differences between what we might call “most people.” I don’t know Ole Engebret Haugen. But what is it that indicates that you should earn ten times more than the drivers you have hired? Perhaps you work a lot of overtime, because you have to attend to all the press inquiries? I never remember seeing Engebret Haugen on the television screen.

And we must know this, even if you do not know all the details: in addition to the millionaire salary, millionaires benefit from all kinds of “schemes”. Free car, free phone, free subscription to the newspaper, countless lunches and dinners by the company, free hotel stays.

The difference between the bus driver’s salary of 450,000 and Engebret Haugen’s 3.3 million is therefore in practice much larger than the openly unfair gap of 2,850,000. Where the bus driver eats off his salary to make up the day, Engebret Haugen adds benefits.

That said, it must also be said that the union movement has a way to go. Top management at LO belongs to the country’s salary chair.

What dictates that the head of the country’s organized workers, those who pay a monthly fee, earn 1 million more than their affiliates? The question can rightly be asked in the style of the boss of those now on strike, the leader of Fellesforbundet, Jørn Eggum: Why do they earn three times more than bus drivers, those who pay their wages?

So I bluff on Røkke and Fredriksen; they literally get to sail their own sea. But I am especially concerned that “most people” must have the same possible conditions. LO tops will not earn 1,500,000, while members will earn 500,000. And the leaders of state-owned companies, those who earn more than $ 3 million, should soon be reduced to a good qualified salary. Around 750,000. This is also where the salary of a parliamentary representative should be.

Only then, with sobriety intact, can we speak of a Norway with “small differences”.
