Last week, Marcus Thuram was sent off for spitting at an opponent and was suspended for five games, but receives little support from his well-known soccer father.
It was in the Bundesliga match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hoffenheim that the much-talked about situation occurred.
Hoffenheim’s Stefan Posch faced Gladbach’s Marcus Thuram after the latter fell somewhat easily to the ground after a duel. Thuram responded by spitting the opponent in the face and deservedly received the red card.

Five-game suspension
The 23-year-old attacker has impressed the German club a lot this season, but now he has to settle for a longer stint out of football.
The Frenchman received a fine of 400,000 crowns from the association, a monthly salary in club fines and a five-game suspension for the action.

Now the player’s father, former French player Lilian Thuram, has also commented on his son’s scandal.
– I watched the game myself and was completely in shock. It is totally deserved that so much has been mentioned in the media. I started to wonder if it was my son I was seeing, says Thuram in an interview with Marca.
– Has no sense
The son called the father to the locker room after the game, to explain what really happened.
– First he called his little brother and apologized to him, because he knows his father. Then he called me and said that he didn’t want people to think that he was that kind of person.

The Gladbach player is said to have told his little brother that the spitting scandal was unintentional.
– I didn’t do it on purpose. I was angry and screamed. I promise, he should have said in conversation with his brother.
Now Borussia Mönchengladbach will have to do without one of their best players in the next matches. On January 8, the great power of Bayern Munich awaits at home, without Thuram.
