Lucy Letby, 30, will be booked into prison on Thursday.

She is charged with murder and attempted murder in the period June 2015 to June 2016, writes Sky News.

Letby was arrested again on Tuesday and has since been in custody in connection with her court appearance on Thursday.

She was previously arrested in 2018 and 2019, writes BBC.

Police say in a statement that the parents of all the babies have been informed about the progress of the case.

– Difficult moment

“This is an extremely difficult time for all families, and it is important to remember that at the center of this, there are several grieving families who want answers to what happened to their children,” police investigator Paul Hughes said Wednesday.

The investigation of the case began at The Countess of Chester south of Liverpool, where Letby worked, in May 2017, where they began investigating 15 infant deaths between June 2015 and June 2016.

Extremely challenging

The investigation was later extended to apply to 17 infant deaths and 16 near-deaths between May 2015 and June 2016, Sky News writes.

Letby is now charged with eight murders and ten attempted murders.

The investigation says the police have been “extremely defiant” but “very active and continuous,” writes the BBC.
