Bønes clubhouse fire

Several are checked for smoke damage after attempting to put out the fire themselves.

Switchboard 110 reported a fire on a “barracks platform” in Fjellsdalen in Bønes at two o’clock on New Year’s Day.

– Total fire in the barracks, wrote the police, who reported that the civilians tried to put out the fire themselves, with a water hose.

It later became clear that the fire had occurred at the Bønes Idrettslag clubhouse. According to exchange 110, he was burned in the construction of the wall.

At 02.19, the police write that there is a report of “increased development of smoke.”

– We just asked for more resources, said Christer Skei on exchange 110 a little before two thirty on Friday night.

Half an hour later, Skei was able to report that the fire department had just taken control of the fire.

– There is still a lot of smoke inside the building, he said.

Shortly after three o’clock in the afternoon, the fire went out.

The fire brigade will now tear down parts of the structure for inspection.

– Now we are opening up to check for embers inside the wall, says service officer Bjørn Næs in the fire service.

An ambulance was also dispatched to the scene, as several people have ingested a lot of smoke.

– They are people who have tried to put out the fire. We don’t know if there are people in the building, says Skei.
