Zalgiris shook Bodø / Glimt, but kept advancing for the home team. Now AC Milan can wait for the next game.

BODØ / GLIMT – ŽALGIRIS VILNIUS 3-1:

ASPMYRA / BODØ (Nettavisen): Bodø / Glimt beat Zalgiris Vilnius 3-1 at home in Aspmyra, and is therefore further away in the Europa League qualifiers.

Glimt took the lead in the first half after a goal from Zinckernagel, before the guests tied shortly after. Boniface put a new lead for Bodø / Glimt in the first half, before Patrick Berg decided the match ten minutes before the end.

After being totally superior this season, most hoped that beating Lithuanian Zalgiris Vilnius in the Europa League qualifier was a plan for Bodø / Glimt.

But Bodø / Glimt had to fight against the Lithuanian team for a long time. It really seemed like Zalgiris had done his homework before meeting with the elite leader of the elite series.

However, it was Bodø / Glimt who emerged victorious from the match. This means that Glimt will most likely face AC Milan at the San Siro in the next round.

The great Italian team began their qualifying match against Shamrock Rovers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday night. Milan have a top-notch team and are huge favorites to become Bodø / Glimt’s next opponents.

He took the initiative despite many oversights

Although Bodø / Glimt opened somewhat sloppily at first and gave Zalgiris more chances, it was the home team that took the lead in Aspmyra.

After 20 minutes, Brunstad Fet tried to even things out by sending a long ball towards the center forwards, but the visiting defense made the best of this rather direct style of play. But his touch went too far and the goalkeeper seemed to catch the ball, but Fet completed the run and heartily went into a duel with the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper lost the ball and Zinckernagel was easily able to put the ball into the open net for 1-0.

But just six minutes later, the guests should get a well-deserved score. Zalgiri’s right wing Kyeremeh hit the field completely without pressure behind Glimt’s defense, and there Antal entered a suction run and drove the ball into goal at 1-1.

Not long after, however, the home team would again take the lead. Zinckernagel hit a corner kick on the first post that was pushed into Boniface, who easily made it 2-1.

Although Bodø / Glimt went into halftime with a lead, it was far from being the best of the year for the team we’ve grown used to seeing dominate.

Second half smooth

The second half was also uneventful. Most probably expected Bodø / Glimt to overtake Zalgiris in the second half after a slow start to the match, but it didn’t happen.

Zalgiris kept up with Glimt as well as in the first half, and the breakthrough was by no means in the yellow jersey area.

Glimt had a lot of the ball in the team, without being able to reach the big occasions. Glimt fans have indulged themselves with fantastic football all season, but that wasn’t the case Thursday night in Aspmyra.

But ten minutes before the end, Berg decided the match for Bodø / Glimt. Once again, a corner kick was thrown at the near post, before Berg finished off the ball into the goal.

Therefore, the match was decided and Bodø / Glimt is further away in the Europa League standings.
