Big fire in the center of Åndalsnes

Update: At 10 o’clock, the 110 exchange reports that the building has been set on fire. They are now working to limit the spread to other buildings.

The fire service was notified of the fire at 09:28. Firefighters from several neighboring municipalities have been summoned to collaborate in the extinction efforts.

– The house is overheated, and this is a multi-unit building. Extinguishing work and smoke diving efforts are underway, says service officer Tor Ivar Sjåstad at exchange 110.

It is currently unclear how many people live in the houses and if anyone is missing. The fire has received a so-called “triple warning”, and there are several ambulance helicopters on their way to the area.

For Rbnett, the mayor of Rauma, Yvonne Wold, confirms that the houses that are burning are refugee housing.
