Bastholm, leader of the MDGs, goes flat: – I will not say that again

– The government uses the billions as drunken sailors.

This was stated by the party leader in the Green Party, Une Bastholm, to Dagbladet after the government and the Progress Party (Frp) agreed on the state budget for 2021 on Tuesday night.

Bastholm thought the government could use the funds for things other than beer and tobacco tax cuts.

The comparison in Bastholm’s statement was not well received by some.

The Norwegian Naval Officers Association and FRP profile Sylvi Listhaug reacted to the proposal from the ODM leader, writes Dagbladet.

The senior adviser to the Norwegian Naval Officers Association, Jens Folland, believes it is “difficult to read that party leaders use expressions that belong to the past.”

Following the statement, Bastholm has taken action.

The party leader says that she herself called the Machinists Association to apologize.

– I quickly realized that I had said something stupid that I didn’t know was offensive. I will not say that again. This was in no way about my view of seafarers as a professional group or individuals, and was simply an uncritical use of a linguistic expression in a situation where I was very disappointed in government spending in a crucial decade for the climate change and green, says Bastholm.
