Only Jazz in Grensen in central Oslo closes its doors forever, writes Vårt Oslo. General manager Bodil Niska tells the newspaper that the crisis in the crown has hit the place hard.

– He’s been my son for 24 years. This is very difficult, says Niska.

Only Jazz has been a combined record store, cafe and bar in Grensen since 2001. The venue has attracted jazz enthusiasts from across the country.

Now, however, it is over. On Thursday afternoon, Bare Jazz called for a riot and closed its doors.

Half afraid of bankruptcy

Jazz alone isn’t the only nightclub in Oslo that has been hit hard by the crown crisis. The entire nightlife industry is in deep crisis.

It is easy to detect the crisis in the nightlife of the streets of Oslo. The dining rooms are almost empty. Alcohol service is prohibited in the capital for almost three weeks. On Thursday, the measures were extended until December 14.

Some try to stay open and several offer to go. Many have temporarily closed their doors. If the crisis continues, many places may remain permanently closed.

Virke’s figures show that half of the country’s nightlife actors fear bankruptcy.
