At least 100 quarantined after the bus outbreak

In addition, at least 100 people have been quarantined in various municipalities. The municipality of Kvam is among the most affected, where three are infected and 48 in quarantine, according to the newspaper.

Quarantined after visits to cafes

On Thursday, Etne municipality stated that 25 people had been quarantined as a result of the bus tour group stopping at a cafe in Åkrafjordtunet earlier this week, NRK writes.

Also in Førde in Sunnfjord municipality, 16 people have been quarantined.

Haukeland Hospital is also affected after an infected passenger entered the bus. Ten employees and four patients are now in quarantine.

Norheimsund hotels closed

Three of those who have been confirmed infected by bus passengers are employees of the Thon Hotel Sandven in Norheimsund, which is located in the municipality of Kvam.

The tour group stayed at the hotel from September 20-21. The hotel will be closed until October 1.

– Nine employees who worked during the relevant time period were quarantined and screened. Three of these test results have come back positive, says hotel manager Arnstein Birkeland in a press release.

– All rooms, common areas and the rest of the property are thoroughly washed. To be safe, we have chosen to close the hotel until October 1, he adds.

According to the hotel, there were few other guests in the period in question. These and the guests who have lived there since have been notified of the outbreak.

Enter measurements

As a result of the outbreak, other infection control measures have also been introduced in Kvam municipality, NRK reports.

Among other things, the upper secondary school is closed for a week and all employees are required to have a home office. A class at the Norheimsund school and a department at the Norheimsund kindergarten will also be closed until Monday.

It was September 15 when the bus left for the six-day trip. The tour group visited six lodges on the journey through eastern Norway, Dovre and western Norway. The passengers came from Jæren and were between 67 and 84 years old.

Among the travel group of 40, 33 passengers have been confirmed to be infected.
