Many woke up to sleet and snow in various vegan towns across the country on Sunday. Police report several races downhill, and in both Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag, cars ended up on the roof in accidents.

Snowy and slippery roads

So it was at Stavsengfjellet between Liabygda and Stordal on Møre og Romsdal on Sunday morning.

In the townships of Stranda and Sunndal in Møre og Romsdal, car drivers were taken to hospital after the cars they were driving ended up on the roof. So far the magnitude of the damage in both cases is unknown.

– At Stranda, the road must have been slippery and at Sunndal there had been mud on the road, says Roar Fylling, manager of police operations.

A driver was also hit by the car and rolled onto the roof of Berkåk in Trøndelag on Sunday morning. The driver was searched by ambulance personnel in the city, but must have appeared unharmed. Police believe the accident is due to driving conditions.

At 12.00 on Sunday, a truck and a car collided head-on at the Rv3 Østerdalsveien in Ulsberg. So far it is unclear what caused the accident, but it should have been slippery in the city.

– Consider what tires you have

The Møre og Romsdal police warn motorists against slippery roads and say it would be wise to consider changing tires if one is going to drive today.

– Take a further assessment of the tires you have and where you are going. Especially if you are going up the hill. But it can also be slippery in several lowland towns, Fylling says.

Yellow warning

Before the weekend, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute sends a yellow warning for snow from the Sognefjord to west Finnmark.

– Don’t go to the mountains without winter tires, was their call.

More accidents

During the weekend, a series of casualties and accidents have been reported in various locations around the country. Trøndelag police also ask motorists to drive according to conditions and use their own tires.

– We have received several reports of snow-covered and slippery roads across much of the county, they say.

In Rennebu township, a snowmobile driver entered the Stamnan ditch on Sunday morning. The driver was not injured in the accident, but according to police he was slippery in the city.

– There was sleet on the road. I lost control and came off the edge, tell the driver.

In Kirkenes it is rumored that naudetatane about a traffic accident on the E6 at Strømmen Bridge at 12.30 on Sunday. A driver ran off the road and is being examined by a doctor. It is slippery in the city and the road is partially closed. Also on Saturday there was a traffic accident in the same town on a slippery road.

In Finnmark, slippery roads were also reported on Saturday night. There were two road accidents, one at Hammerfest and one at Sør-Varanger. In both accidents, you must have our road surface slippery.

A driver ran off the road in Rustvegen in the municipality of Sel on Sunday night. No injuries were reported, but police say it was very slippery in the city.

Also in Vestland County, slippery roads are reported in several cities. So far this has only led to minor accidents.
