Four of the infection cases in Indre Østfold have an unknown infection site and infection tracking continues throughout the night and tomorrow.

Five of the infection cases can be traced back to the outbreak at Mysen Primary School and Mysen Secondary School. Both schools closed Wednesday.

Based on new cases of infection in schools, we now choose to test all students and staff at Mysen Primary School and Mysen Secondary School, the municipality writes on its website.

Testing of the 870 students will take place in class. All students and staff at the two schools are under quarantine.

– We try to limit infection through school as much as possible, but not everyone will return to school on Monday, says the head of infection control in Indre Østfold municipality, Barbro Kvaal, to NRK.

All cases of infection in schools can be linked to the Christmas celebration in Sarpsborg about two weeks ago.

– Now we are in close contacts of close contacts. This is the third paragraph, says the director of infection control.

Since March, around 200 people in the municipality have tested positive for coronavirus. But the municipality will not close this time, as they did earlier this summer.

– We are not at that level now. The infection we’ve had so far has been so concentrated in some places, says Kvaal.

She goes on to say that two of the current infection cases date back to Bergen.

172 infected in Fredrikstad in two weeks

In Fredrikstad, eight new cases of infection were registered on Thursday. A total of 172 have been diagnosed with corona since Friday, August 28.

Here too, work is being done on infection detection Thursday night.

The sharp increase in infection in Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg began during a multi-day religious celebration. Sarpsborg Municipality has denounced the religious community behind the celebration of the festivities for violations of the Communicable Diseases Act, after 170 people are said to have gathered in a small assembly hall in Skjeberg.

Despite the fact that the leaders of the Muslim faith community Al-Ghadir assured that they had complied with the infection control rules, the participants in the same event reported that no adequate follow-up had been done.

Sarpsborg did not update infection figures Thursday night.
