Asker and Bærum: – Close gyms and pubs

The Minister of Health, Bent Høie, has asked the municipalities near Oslo to coordinate their measures with those in force in the capital.

Lillestrøm, Nordre Follo and Drammen, among others, have. On Monday, Asker and Bærum opted to take a slightly different line and keep both gyms and the nightlife industry open. Contrary to the recommendations of the municipal chief doctor, Budstikka wrote on Tuesday.

– In our revised inspection plan related to the risk of infection, we have defined gyms as companies with a particularly high risk of spreading infections and the supervision of gyms will be prioritized, municipal chief physician Frantz Leonard Nilsen told the newspaper.

On Wednesday, the municipalities have turned around and do as in the capital, where there has been both a bar stop and a closed gym since midnight on Monday.

Dagbladet wrote on Tuesday that the centers in Bærum were prepared for the fact that it was the people of Oslo who could be tempted by the gyms open to a short trip by public transport. According to Budstikka, there were also those who took advantage of this opportunity on Tuesday night.

Deputy Health Director Espen Rostrup Nakstad tells Dagbladet that he hopes everyone is now thinking about the purpose of the measures that have been introduced in Oslo.

– That is, to reduce contact with others for a period of time, especially indoors. This should be everyone’s goal, and you don’t contribute to it by traveling out of town to do things that are forbidden in Oslo, he says.

Marianne Orderud, communications director at Sats, says that it has not been recorded that many of the Oslo members have expanded their membership so that they can also train, for example in Bærum. But some centers experienced queues.

– There were some centers that had a slightly longer queue between five and seven, since there are many who want to train. When we look at the visitor numbers, there are no alarming numbers and we have a good handle on the situation, he tells Dagbladet.

That there is a queue outside the centers is also nothing new, says Orderud.

– We have had a queue since the restrictions were introduced. Queues outside a gym will be affected by when people want to exercise, so we’re eager to spread the word about the visit.
