Ask Ropstad to put hard against hard

– We have a very stagnant situation in the negotiations. It is by no means a fact that we will come to an agreement, FRP leader Siv Jensen said when meeting with the press in the Storting hall yesterday.

Negotiations between the government parties and the FRP on the state budget for next year stalled for fiscal politicians and they have now risen to the level of party leader. The talks are now taking place in the Prime Minister’s office.

Central to the negotiations are FRP’s tough demands for cuts in taxes on alcohol and tobacco, a reduction in the number of refugees from the quota to Norway and less aid to developing countries.

– Do not give

Cheaper alcohol, fewer refugees and less aid are the exact opposite of what the ruling KrF party wants and has gone to the polls. The cases also largely go with the deal the four parties agreed to when the government’s declaration on Granavolden was signed.

He affirms that the main lines of alcohol policy will be maintained, including taxes, that 1% of GNI will go to development assistance and that the adopted level of refugee quota will be maintained.

– KrF and the government must not give in to these demands. The government rules on the declaration of Granavolden, tells Dagbladet county leader Oluf Maurud in Innlandet KrF.

He is not surprised that the FRP is promoting precisely these demands and says he has noticed the party claiming that the Granavolden statement no longer applies to the FRP.

– We were prepared for this. I have a lot of faith in those who negotiate and I hope that an agreement will be reached in the end. I can’t imagine anything else in the special situation the country is in now, says Maurud.

Randi Walderhaug Frisvoll at Møre og Romsdal KrF says that there are well-known shades of Frp that so far come from negotiations at the Storting.

– Negotiations are about give and take. And I think the party leadership is tough when it comes to our core issues, he says.

– International solidarity and restrictive alcohol policy are important issues for KrF. Kjell Ingolf has my full support when he is tough on changes on these issues, says county leader Britt Egeland Gulbrandsen in Viken.

She thinks it is “unbelievable” if the FRP should lead the country into a government crisis in the current situation and says she recognizes that the FRP “extends and takes responsibility.”

County leaders Bente Høston Bostad in Trøndelag and Oddny Helen Turøy in Rogaland also express that Ropstad has the party behind it when it is tough on these issues. From Oslo and Agder, full confidence is expressed that the KrF leadership will conduct the negotiations in a good way.

– I am confident that Ropstad will fight for good KrF solutions that involve solidarity with people fleeing and not to increase the damage that drugs unnecessarily inflict on our society, says Espen Andreas Hasle in Oslo KrF.

Opens up for change

County leader Truls Olufsen-Mehus in Troms and Finnmark KrF, for their part, believe that there should be room to negotiate the number of refugees in the quota. With an absolutely crucial condition, namely that the FRP in turn stop the changes in the Biotechnology Law.

– But they hardly agree with that, so there is no reason for KrF to give in, he tells Dagbladet.

Truls Olufsen-Mehus believes that the FRP has not actually complied with Granavolden’s statement since the party agreed to the amendments to the Biotechnology Act, which, among other things, allows assisted reproduction for single people.

– The planned fatherlessness shows that Frp does not understand what basic needs people have. We see this again in the fact that Frp thinks it’s better with cheaper alcohol and carcinogenic smoke than helping other humans in distress, he says.
