Circus director Arild Arnardo passed away at the age of 78. Reports NTB.
He fell asleep peacefully in Lillesand on Monday. The family itself informs the news agency. He died surrounded by those closest to him. The cause of death is currently unknown.
He leaves behind his wife Bjørg and their children Are and Helen.

“He has left deep traces behind him both in his large circus audience and in the circus industry. A king of the circus has abandoned the manege ”, writes Cirkus Arnadro on Facebook.
Arnardo was the oldest circus director in Norway and the son of the well-known circus director Arne Arnardo. He was seven years old when his father founded Cirkus Arnardo and, together with his wife Bjørg, took over the operation in 1987.
– I have always had my wife and children, and life in the circus is enormously educational. You learn the language and coexistence with people. And you can see a lot, we’re in 130 places across the country, he told Dagbladet in 2013.
Words of recollection from the circus state that Arild’s wish was for the audience to have tears in their eyes and a smile on their faces after sitting in the tent.
“Arild Arnardo was very concerned about the audience meeting with Cirkus Arnardo and had strong opinions about what the atmosphere should be like and what experiences the audience should sit with after a visit,” he says.
By then her son Are had taken over the operation and Arild was retired.

His father Arne died after a performance in Oslo in 1995.
Arild himself performed in the manege as an artist when he was young, and was, among other things, as a line dancer.
In 2015, Arild suffered a stroke, which left him paralyzed on the left side. He had previously said that he also had COPD after smoking since he was eleven years old.
The circus director has also had a few accidents during the life of the circus, including a hook in the femur and several kicks from the circus animal.
Together with his wife Bjørg, he received the King’s Medal of Merit in the same year for his efforts in Norwegian cultural life.
