The doctor of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, Sean Conley, offered a press conference this Saturday in which he assured that Trump is in good shape, that the symptoms of covid-19 have decreased and that he has not needed oxygen since the team has surrounded him.

However, the body of press covering the White House was given an anonymous quote from a source who is supposed to be familiar with the president’s health, after the press conference, several US media report.

– The health of the president in the last 24 hours has been very worrying, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his treatment. We are not yet on a clear path to recovery, the anonymous source’s statement said.

Reuters, AP, CBS and CNN are among the media that have reproduced the source quote.

A little later, the AP reproduces a quote from Trump’s chief of staff, Mark Meadows, who is very close to the anonymous quote in the newsroom.

“President Donald Trump went through a” very disturbing “period on Friday, and the next 48 hours will be critical when it comes to his treatment as he battles coronavirus at a military hospital, Meadows said according to the AP.

New York magazine journalist Olivia Nuzzi writes on Twitter that the original quote ended up in the inbox of several reporters covering the White House, emphasizing that she does not know where it came from or why this anonymous person has the authority to contradict recent statements by doctors to the contrary.

At the same time, Nuzzi is releasing a video clip allegedly showing Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in the minutes after the press conference, asking some reporters to stay away from cameras that are still on.

This is cited as an indication that Meadows is the source behind the quote, without it being established.

At the same time, the AP news agency reports that Trump allegedly received an oxygen supply at the White House on Friday, before being sent to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

The New York Times also reports this, but both outlets have anonymous sources on the information.
