The US authorities have made a clear appeal to all who were traveling in connection with the celebration of Thanksgiving in the United States this weekend.
– If you or someone in your family has been traveling, you should assume you are infected and get tested, says Dr. Deborah Birx, who heads the White House corona department at CBS.
Record number of travelers
On Sunday, a record number of travelers passed through security checks at US airports. Not as many had traveled to the United States since February. Authorities fear the capacity of the hospitals will be blown up.
“Hospitals have no chance to prepare for what is coming,” Dr. Megan Ranney told CNN.
Warn of the consequences
According to the Covid Tracking Program, hospitals in the United States set a new regrettable record on Sunday with more than 93,000 hospitalized as a result of the coronavirus. The capacity has already been exhausted and now a new contagion jump is expected.
– It’s as if a natural disaster hit all 50 states at once. We don’t have enough beds and we don’t have enough health staff, Ranney says.
Due to the incubation period, the fallout from the Thanksgiving celebration will not be seen until next week and will likely affect the country for the next several weeks.
