All of Brann’s equipment must be quarantined after two positive tests.

Daouda Bamba (25) and Fredrik Haugen (28) tested positive for corona tests after Saturday’s match against Haugesund. Now the entire team of Brann and Haugesund must be quarantined for ten days.

Brann confirms this in a press release Thursday night.

– Late at night we received a message from the laboratory about what we expected, that Bamba tested positive for Covid-19. More surprising is that Fredrik Haugen also tested positive. He had an upset stomach during Saturday’s game, but no other symptoms. He played the game without problems. On Sunday he had stomach symptoms and has since had diffuse abdominal pain. It’s a very unusual course of symptoms for Covid-19, so unusual that it wasn’t thought about until this week, says Brann doctor Magnus Myntevik.

And add:

– It’s not uncommon for players to have nervous stomach issues before the game and it was never relevant not to let him play the game on Saturday. This means that we all have to be quarantined until Tuesday. Unfortunately, the same applies to the Haugesund players who were on the field at the same time as Fredrik. Haugesund’s doctor has been informed, Myntevik says.

Surprised

Brann Rune Soltvedt’s sports manager says they were prepared for Daouda Bamba to get infected.

– We were not so surprised that Bamba tested positive, because we knew that someone with a close relationship was infected. But what surprised me the most was Fredrik’s (Haugen) test, Soltvedt tells TV 2.

Haugen and Bamba are isolated at home and will be there until they are healthy.

On Friday, all Brann players will be tested for the coronavirus.

– Arsenal quarantined for ten days in Molde? Ha ha I doubt it!

– Now we try to follow the guidelines found. Everything from notifying what happened and starting infection tracking. Now the whole team is in quarantine until Tuesday of next week. We’ll try them all, Soltvedt says.

All of Brann’s joint training is canceled until Tuesday. The next training session will be next Wednesday, and the next match against Rosenborg, on Sunday 22 November, will not be affected by the quarantine.

– Are you afraid of more cases of contagion?

– I don’t want to use the word fear, but you have to take it very seriously. Soccer has lived under strict protocol. I know we at Brann are careful to abide by that protocol. It has little contact with others and when it infects you, it shows how vulnerable you are in society. It is important for us to help prevent infections in society. At the same time, this shows that people are highly exposed to the increasing risk of infection in Bergen and other parts of Norway, Soltvedt concludes.
