Earlier today, it became known that a woman in her 30s, who worked in the municipality of Tynset, died ten days after being vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Steinar Madsen, director of the Norwegian Medicines Agency, emphasizes that this death is not caused by a blood clot.

– We take it very seriously, as it is a younger person. We will now collect all available information about this incident from local health personnel and hospitals, to obtain the best possible basis for assessing the cause of this incident, Madsen told Dagbladet.

He goes on to say that they cannot conclude anything until they have received all the results.

-We must be sure if this may have something to do with vaccination or if it is a coincidence in time, he says.

– Extremely rare

At a press conference on Friday morning, the Tynset municipal chief stated that the woman died as a result of a brain hemorrhage.

– The person in question was vaccinated and eventually a serious condition developed that ended fatally, says Steinar Madsen.

It also says that the person was admitted to the hospital after receiving the vaccine, where they underwent a series of tests. These are tests that the Norwegian Medicines Agency will review now.

– When a patient has such a serious condition, the person in question performs a series of examinations, everything that is necessary to be able to make a diagnosis, says and continues:

– But brain hemorrhage at that age is extremely rare. Annually, it only occurs in 4-5 people in people under 45 years of age.

– emphasizes openness

The woman died on March 6. The Norwegian Medicines Agency learned of the case yesterday afternoon.

The municipality states in a press release that this week they have carried out investigations into the death in collaboration with the treating hospital and have routinely reported the death to the Norwegian Medicines Agency.

It’s hard to say how long it will take for the Norwegian Medicines Agency to investigate the death, according to Madsen.

– I can’t give a specific time frame there. Thorough work must be done.

He continues:

– The tragic death that was known today should not give many reason to those who have been vaccinated to be concerned.

– We emphasize being open about all aspects of the vaccine, both positive and negative, so that people know that what we say is true, concludes Madsen.

– Many side effects have been reported

On March 9, more than 408,000 people were vaccinated with the first dose of the corona vaccine and more than 214,000 people were vaccinated with the second dose in Norway.

On the same day, 4985 reports of suspected side effects after coronary vaccination were received in the Side Effects Registry, of which 2479 have been treated.

This is demonstrated by the “Coronary Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reports” from the Norwegian Medicines Agency, which were published today.

– We get a lot of reports of side effects, and the vast majority are fairly common, Medical Director Madsen tells Dagbladet.

According to the product information

Most of the side effects that have been reported in Norway so far refer to temporary side effects such as headaches, fatigue, malaise, fever, nausea and pain in the body, the recent report shows, which also states that these side effects they usually occur on the first day or two after vaccination and last about 2-3 days.

– Most people tolerate these transient side effects well, while others experience major ailments in the first few days after vaccination, says Madsen.

«The messages by. March 9 does not give new signs of unexpected or serious side effects in Norway. In essence, the suspected side effects observed after vaccination are consistent with what is described in the product information, “the report states.

115 deaths

Shortly after vaccination began among Norway’s oldest nursing home residents, some deaths were reported. This is something that the Norwegian Medicines Agency is investigating thoroughly.

– We have our own group of experts that reviews the deaths that have occurred in nursing homes, Steinar Madsen tells Dagbladet.

The purpose of this is to learn, he explains.

According to the recent side effects report, a total of 115 reports of deaths have been processed in the context of vaccination in elderly people in need of care, most of whom are residents of nursing homes.

The average age of these is higher than 87 years.

In several of these messages, journalists have stated that they do not suspect a connection to vaccination, the recent report shows.

– Waited on time

The fact that a person dies in close temporal relation to vaccination does not necessarily mean that there is a causal connection, the report further emphasizes.

The Norwegian Medicines Agency also notes that at this time of year around 50 people die every day in the age group of 85 and over, and around 35 people every day in the age group of 75 to 84 years.

“Therefore, it is expected that there will be deaths in a timely context with vaccination, without there having to be a causal link with the vaccine,” the report notes.

“At the same time, it cannot be ruled out that the vaccine’s relatively mild side effects have contributed to a severe course of their underlying disease for the most fragile patients,” he also states.

The reported deaths occurred within a period of up to 3 weeks after vaccination.

Blood clot

So far, the Norwegian Medicines Agency has been notified of a blood clot in 31 people who have received a corona vaccine in Norway. Most of them were elderly with an underlying disease.

In the report, the Norwegian Medicines Agency refers to the report of a death in Denmark as a result of a blood clot after vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine. Therefore, on Thursday, the National Institute of Public Health decided to put all vaccines with this vaccine on hold while further research is conducted.

The death in Denmark led the Norwegian Medicines Agency to wait to publish the weekly report until they extracted and reviewed all cases of blood clots after coronary vaccination reported to the adverse reaction registry.

In Norway, a case of a blood clot has been reported in a person who received the AstraZeneca vaccine.
