The driver in his 60s is now accused of negligently causing the death of another person.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Tråkka and Stasjonsveien at 4.30 pm on 13 January this year. The crossing is dimly lit and is located in Holmen, 200 meters from the Grass Line.

The driver is accused of infractions of both the Penal Code and the Traffic Law.

According to the indictment, the car went down Tråkka and turned left at Stasjonsveien towards Slemdal. The two-year-old boy was accompanying his mother and was about to cross Stasjonsveien in a pedestrian zone when they were beaten.

Green light for cars and pedestrians.

There was a green light for pedestrians when the accident occurred. The driver also had a green light, but had a duty to yield to pedestrians. According to the indictment, the driver did not comply with the duty of yielding to mother and son, which resulted in both being beaten.

The boy suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot. The mother was also injured. The two of them were on their way home from kindergarten.

The defendant was driving an Audi Q7, which is slightly larger than a normal car. The man’s driver’s license was confiscated on the spot. When the police wanted to extend the seizure period this summer, they objected.

The Oslo District Court agreed with the police. According to the decision, the seizure will stand until the case against him is finally resolved, but no later than January 13, 2021.

It was learned in court that he had not seen the boy before the accident.

It is the police lawyer Eric Lindset who will be the prosecutor when the case is presented in the Oslo District Court.

– It’s a serious case, but I don’t want to pre-judge the case in the media, says Lindset.

Does not admit fault

Attorney Vegard Aaløkken is the defense attorney for the accused.

– He does not admit fault. Beyond that, I don’t want to comment on the case at this point, says Aaløkken.

– Why did you want to get your driver’s license back before the case was decided?

– It’s like everyone else: you need a driver’s license in everyday life.
