Kvaerner’s internal control has revealed that “it appears that the correct test has not been performed for some of the certificates” for welders from one of its subcontractors. Report E24 on Wednesday night.

Kvaerner writes in a press release that 15 welders have so far been found to have falsified certificates.

The quality and safety of Norwegian fields should not be affected, according to Kvaerner.

Kvaerner takes the case seriously and has therefore also informed the Norwegian police about the matter, it is further stated in the press release.

“Kvaerner has zero tolerance for deviations from the requirements and standards that are established to ensure adequate quality, and where deviations can affect life, health, the environment and safety. When we discover inaccuracies in important documentation, we take it very seriously. The case shows that we as an industry have robust systems that will ensure that quality and safety requirements are maintained even if an area is put to the test. At the same time, we will now demand full clarity on this matter, and we want assurance that similar situations do not arise in the future, “says Steinar Røgenes, director of shipyards, operators and engineering organization at Kvaerner, in the press release.

Kvaerner now has a process with the subcontractor to clarify all the circumstances surrounding this situation, and has similar contact with the European certification company TÜV, they claim.
