Carole Baskin, tiger king | Carole Baskin wouldn’t be interviewed, tricked into thinking she was on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show

The interview was conducted in an absurd way.

After Tiger King, several of Netflix’s hit stars have been interviewed, and a special episode of the series has been made that tells how they have faced the documentary’s worldwide success.

However, the main characters have been completely silent. Joe Exotic has been impossible to come by since he is in prison, but despite his enormous popularity, his arch-enemy Carole Baskin has not been interviewed, except for the local Tampa Bay Times newspaper.

There, she explained that the reason she did not want to appear was because she believes the documentary provided incorrect information and hints that she was involved in the disappearance of her other husband.

Pretended to be from Jimmy Fallon’s talk show

Now, however, Carole Baskin has done her first video interview, and the result is anything but what she expected in advance. Carole is tricked.

It is the two British YouTubers Joshua Pieters and Archie Manners who are behind the trick that has now fooled one of the world’s most requested interviewees.

In a video, the two show how they have contacted Carole’s reps, claiming they are from the production company to one of the largest talk shows in the United States, “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”

Not unexpectedly, thanks to Tiger King-Carole this time, no, but when the fictional producer promised not to question the Netflix documentary, the tone was different.

They got no response first, this time from Carol’s third husband, Howard Baskin, who thought there had been enough stress around the star lately. For those who have seen the series, this is the man in the leopard suit and dog leash in the wedding photos.

Then came the counter note that no one had expected. Carole herself contacted in an email, saying her daughter had recommended that she accept the interview, as Fallon’s audience would do well to promote her case of banning breeding and captive animals in the United States.

Old audio clips extracted by Jimmy Fallon

In doing so, the two YouTubers extracted audio clips of old questions Jimmy Fallon asked on the show, and got Carole Baskin to answer them through a video interview on Zoom.

However, she didn’t see Jimmy Fallon, but one of the youtubs who acted as “producer”.

The hack has ensured that the British YouTube duo have around a million views a day after the video’s release at the time of writing.

Jimmy Fallon himself has not commented on the trick of the two British YouTubers, nor on Carole Baskin himself.

In the ethics of the press, false identity methods should only be used in exceptional cases, and provided that “this is the only opportunity to reveal matters of significant social importance.”

The question now is whether the two youtubers can risk strong reactions after the stunt, from Carol’s husband Howard, who is a lawyer, or from NBC broadcasting “The Tonight Show.”

I think one of the parties can answer

Media law expert Jon Wessel-Aas believes the two youtubers are basically no different than what comedians and satirists do differently.

Still, he thinks it is one of the parts that can answer.

– If there are reactions here, I think it’s from Jimmy Fallon and his show. Here, these youtubers have somehow abused the trademark, used clips without asking, and used them to fool anyone. Jimmy Fallon and his people could probably argue that this undermines the credibility of Jimmy Fallon and his editorial team when they call it this way, it is possible, Wessel-Aas says.

He says it would have been different if it had been a Norwegian editorial team that performed such a trick.

– These youtubes are hardly subject to something similar to the press association. If there had been a member of the Norwegian editorial staff in the press association, then it is clear that the recording could not be used until the person who participated found out beforehand, says the lawyer.

– Does Carole Baskin have a case if she wants it?

– I’m more skeptical there. I don’t know what Baskin should think of summoning, because it played correctly, although she may be angry that she was tricked.
