School counselor Guri Melby (V) cautions that schools will have an even shorter deadline than the previous one to prepare for the steps of the class to begin, probably next week.

This is evidenced in a letter to the principals of the schools. The letter was sent before the weekend.

“When the decision to reopen approaches, schools may have a shorter time frame than the first opening. Therefore, I would like to encourage all principals and teachers at the school to plan how it can accommodate students at all levels. and how to use the rest of the school year in the best possible way for everyone. “ Melby writes in the letter.

LETTER: “We are going to regain school life,” writes Guri Melby in the letter of April 30, 2020.

Before the first reopening of both kindergartens and the first four years of elementary school, it was criticized that leaders, teachers, kindergarten teachers, and other staff had too little time to prepare, especially to use the prevention supervisor of infections in practice.

But the letter from Melby and the Ministry of Education states that infection prevention supervisors for all grades in primary and secondary schools went into effect on April 20.

Therefore, the Minister waits for these to be implemented before deciding what new class steps can start again at school, and when they can start. Still, there are more than half a million students who have not yet started school after the crown closed.

In the letter, Melby writes that this week the government will announce a new plan to reopen other steps at the school.

“Our goal is for all students to return to school before summer” Melby writes and repeats what she has said several times earlier this spring.

However, for Aftenposten Sunday, Melby was a bit more specific and said:

– It is not clear which students are first in line, but the earliest possible start to school is May 11.

That means in the event that the start of school for the next group of students can be Monday in a week.

Several have indicated to the ministry that the most urgent students to return to school are high school graduates (10th grade) and 3rd grade (vg3) specializing in studies in higher education. Vg3 is already back in business.

RETIREMENT LIFE PRIORITIES: It is more urgent for graduate students to start again at school, says Rita Helgesen, Principal of Lektorlaget. Photo: Norsk Lektorlag

The director of Rita Helgesen on the Norwegian lecturer team tells VG:

– We have said that graduates should have priority. I would particularly like to point out that students who are at risk of not getting a diploma as soon as possible should return to school because they often find it difficult to work on their own.

Knowledge Minister Guri Melby himself has also stated that it is important for graduates to have a time with an evaluation basis towards the end of the school year, all the time the exam is canceled.

When asked VG earlier this spring if it would be a relaxation for graduates without exams, Melby replied:

– Standpoker ratings are generally set in early May before exams start. Now there is no reason for that. We now encourage teachers to take a good position in June, which means teachers can find good ways to evaluate student efforts. Everything is set to work hard during the summer, Melby said.

So far, VG has not been in contact with Minister of Knowledge Guri Melby on Monday.
