The Easter holidays are coming to an end, and usually weather and driving conditions affect whether cabin passengers decide to go home today or tomorrow, the second day of Easter.
Christofa Key-Nilsen, who is a traffic operator in Vegtrafikksentralen Øst, tells Dagbladet.
– Bad weather has been reported today, which may affect the return trip a bit. We usually see that there is a difference when you go home, whether the weather is nice or not, he says.
– And if you are going to cross the mountain today, it is a good idea to leave early, as bad weather has been reported. Several mountain passes can be closed on short notice, he continues.
Storms lead to closed mountain passes
She warns in particular about these mountain passes:
– Please wait timeout
– What advice would you give to those in the cabin who are now planning the descent of Easter?
– Follow the weather and drive, and drive in accordance with the conditions. Make sure you have enough fuel, some food, and warm clothing. There can be long waits and long detours.
She continues:
– If you are going to cross the mountain, it is advisable to travel now. Bad weather has been reported throughout the day.
Key-Nilsen says he acknowledges that people have received the weather reports and therefore there will likely be a lot of traffic on the roads today.
– It’s natural to see an increase in traffic after lunch and during the day, says Key-Nilsen.

Meteorologists: – All broad
State meteorologist Terje Alsvik Walløe tells Dagbladet that the further west you go, the worse the weather will be today.
– It will be very bad in the mountain passes. On the west side of the mountain they are the coldest and with the highest rainfall. On the east side of the mountain, they don’t expect so much precipitation, says Alsvik Walløe.
– In the mountains it also blows a lot, which can present challenges both in the west and in the south and east, he continues.
– Winter Strikes Back
Tomorrow less precipitation is expected, according to the meteorologist, but also some wind and gale in the mountains of southern Norway.
– It’s a good idea to check the weather forecasts and road reports today, as the weather can change on short notice, he advises.
In central Norway, sleet is expected far down on the ground, which will result in poor driving conditions both today and tomorrow, the meteorologist says.
– Here, winter strikes back, he says.
In northern Norway, the weather is not so bad, but there are also winter conditions, says Alsvik Walløe.
