– It is not uncommon for snow to fall in April, but people are always equally surprised. People are determined that spring is here, says state meteorologist Aslaug Skålevik Valved.
From Sunday night to Monday night there is a lot of snow waiting. In the lowlands, there may be a local coma of 5 to 15 centimeters of snow during these 24 hours in Vestland, Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag. On the hill more can come.
– The temperature dropped sharply on Sunday. In central Bergen, it can be 5-6 degrees before dinner, then it can drop to -2 in just a few hours, says the meteorologist.
Since snow comes through rain, it is difficult to know exactly how much snow is left. Since the air is quite unstable, there can also be coma, thunder, and hail.
A yellow hazard warning has been posted on snow.
– It’s because it seems to settle, even in the lowlands. And then we pay attention to where we are in the season, says Valved.
The criteria for issuing a yellow hazard warning is otherwise that there is between 5 and 25 centimeters of snow in the outdoor area.
Not just a bark
Not only does it seem that the snow that arrives towards the end of the weekend seems to be able to settle. You can also get in and out of a little snow later in the next week.
– It is not necessarily a small deception, but it is a bit early to give details, says the meteorologist.
The snow is coming because there is a cold draft from the north that lasts at least until Wednesday.
– Do not use the end of Easter to change to summer tires. You can wait a little longer, says Valved.
And that’s exactly what perhaps not many people in Trondheim were thinking today. The snow has already arrived.
From Sunday night to Monday night there can also be some wind as well as snow in the mountains. You can create snowdrifts on homecoming days.
– You have to anoint yourself with patience, says Valved.

The strong waves come from Svalbard
Cold air trauma also means that waves coming from the north have a long time to build up. They come from Svalbard all the way to the coast. The waves seem to be strong, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays.
– If you have taken the boat out at Easter, it is a good idea to tie it up very well. Do not board a small boat, especially on Mondays. There are great forces in the swing and a lot of drag in the sea, says the meteorologist.
