Hitherto unreleased shocking videos of the attack on Congress on January 6 were presented in the Supreme Court case against US President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

In one of the videos, police officer Eugene Goodman can be seen trying to drive violent Trump supporters away from the Senate hall, where former US Vice President Mike Pence was at the time.

The supporters must have been only 30 meters from him at one point, according to the prosecution.

“While Mike Pence was being evacuated, the rebels began to spread through the building,” said Stacey Plaskett, one of the Democrats leading the trial against Trump.

It also showed videos of a crowd yelling “Hang Mike Pence.”

Fled for life

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also escaped the mob at the last minute, the videos show.

The videos show Schumer’s armed bodyguards walking in front of him, through a hallway.

They then disappear from the image, before running back in the opposite direction seconds later. They ran into the rebels and had to turn around in a hurry, the prosecution says.

At the same time, other videos show how the mob is supposedly trying to find and attack the leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.

“In her office, they declared their intention to harm or kill her, searched her office, and terrorized her employees,” Plaskett said, adding that “they did it because Trump sent them on a mission.”

Capitol Police evacuated Pelosi and deemed her father so large that they moved her from the entire convention area on January 6.

Feverish screams for help

Several audio recordings were also presented as key evidence in the Supreme Court case on Wednesday.

Senators received feverish shouts from police officers trying to keep the mob in check.

– There are several wounded here. There are several injured, a policeman shouts on the radio and at the exchange, one of the recordings can be heard.

Around the same time, a single police officer is said to have been standing inside the congress building, trying to pepper-spray the robbers. But when several windows were smashed and the crowd entered, he withdrew.

Another police officer who was also present that day previously told CNN that the attackers took his stun gun and police badge and used the weapon against him. Then it is said that they shouted “Kill him with his own gun”.

He ended up with a mild heart attack after the attack.

Does not change position

Several GOP senators were shocked by the videos that were unveiled in the Supreme Court case on Wednesday, but still pointed out that they will not change their position on the case, writes CNN.

Sen. Mike Braun tells the network that it is difficult to vote to judge Trump when “the whole process is full of mistakes in the first place.”

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski says the evidence presented is very compelling. She is one of six Republicans who voted to have the trial conform to the constitution, according to NTB.

– I do not see how Donald Trump can be re-elected as president, he says about the possibility that the Senate does not prohibit him from running as a candidate in the future.
