US President Joe Biden believes that his predecessor, Donald Trump, should not have the benefit of intelligence updates.

In modern times, former US presidents have been granted intelligence and access to classified information, in order to continue their work to advance US interests. This has been a way for the new president to show respect to his predecessor.

Joe Biden believes that Donald Trump does not deserve this advantage. He says this in an interview with “CBS Evening News With Norah O’Donnell” according to the Washington Post.

The newspaper writes that Biden believes that Donald Trump should not receive intelligence information “because of his erratic behavior.” Biden emphasizes that this is not related to the attack on Congress on January 6.

– I mean you don’t need to receive intelligence updates. What value do you give it? What impact does it really have, other than that I could go to a banana peel and say something, Biden says.

– You called it a threat. He’s called it dangerous and ruthless, O’Donnell says in the interview.

– Yes, I did, and I mean it.

Earlier this week, Biden’s press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed that they were not considering giving Trump access to intelligence. However, he noted that no decision has been made.

– In no case is it necessary for Trump to receive intelligence updates. I don’t think he can be trusted now or in the future, Top Democrat Adam Schiff told CBS.

Former FBI Director James Comey, who has repeatedly criticized Donald Trump, also believes that the former president should not receive intelligence updates.

– You can’t trust him. You have to be very, very careful what you give him. I hope you are deprived of these updates, he tells ABC.

Despite The New Yorker claiming that Trump himself deprived his predecessor, Barack Obama, of access to this information, Trump came out in 2018, according to the Washington Post, and denied it.
