Previous corona positive test analysis work continues at Nordre Follo. The goal is to find out how widespread the spread of the mutated virus is from the UK.

This variant of the coronavirus is much more contagious than the virus we are already familiar with in Norway.

– Since yesterday, an infection has also been discovered at the Langhus health station and Kolbotn school, says Mayor Hanne Opdan (Labor).

Kolbotn School is an elementary school with 370 students and 50 employees. According to the municipal superintendent, eight people who are infected are directly connected to the school.

– We want them to be retested, says municipal chief physician Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold

65 cases of mutated virus

So far, the municipality has received responses to 250 samples. 65 of these showed the mutated virus.

Approximately 150 samples remain to be analyzed.

– We still do not know how the infection came to our municipality, says the mayor.

He has probably entered the municipality from various places, believes the municipal superior.

– The infection is in several places in our municipality, and we do not expect to find a common outbreak. But we see that we may have more gateways to our municipality, says municipal chief physician Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold.

The British virus mutation has likely reached Nordre Follo through “various portals,” according to municipal chief physician Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold.

The outbreak probably started in a nursing home.

The outbreak likely started at Langhus Bog Servicesenter this Christmas. Here two people have died from the mutated virus.

A mutated virus has also been discovered in Tussestien’s kindergarten.

The Nordre Follo presidency decided on Monday evening that the closure of kindergartens and schools will run until Friday.

At the same time, municipal infection control regulations will continue until Sunday. Among other things, Vinmonopolet, pet stores and opticians must be closed.

Some of the residents will also be contacted for a new test. This is part of the mapping of the mutated virus, according to the municipal chief.

Langhus Life and Service Center

The Langhus Life and Services Center opened to visitors on December 26. There has also been a license opportunity for residents. Therefore, the virus may have had several routes to the nursing home, both through residents, visitors, and employees.

82 cases in total in Norway

A total of 82 cases of the British crown variant have been discovered in Norway now. Statistics from the National Institute of Public Health prove it.

The increase in recent days comes after an outbreak of the mutated virus was detected in Nordre Follo last week.

25 municipalities in the east are affected by the outbreak.

Ten of them, including Oslo, are subject to very strict coronary restrictions, with shops and restaurants closed.

Also, there are restrictions in 15 municipalities around these again.
