– We have had six cases of the British coronavirus variant in Oslo from December to date. They are all infected and quarantined, Steen tells Avisa Oslo.
A total of 33 cases of the British crown variant have been found in Norway, the health agency reports to the website.
Four new cases
There is a major outbreak of infection in the neighboring municipality of Nordre Follo. On Thursday night, two cases of the mutated virus were confirmed.
During the presidency meeting on Friday, municipal chief physician Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold in Nordre Follo stated that four new cases of the mutant virus have been confirmed in the municipality. The risk of further spread is great, says the municipal chief, according to NRK.
Councilor Raymond Johansen (Labor Party) says the new measures may also be relevant in Oslo.
Many Nordre Follo residents commute to Oslo daily.
– There may be more measures in Oslo. So far we have had the strictest measures in the country, and now we really have to intervene, he says.
You want the same measurements
On Friday evening, representatives of Nordre Follo and neighboring municipalities met with the state administrator and health authorities. Oslo and municipalities around the capital agreed late Friday on the need for regional measures after the outbreak in Nordre Follo. The government will announce the decision on Friday.
– It depends on a state regulation for Nordre Follo and all neighboring municipalities, with provisions for extensive closures for the next 10 days, says Ola Nordal, mayor of the municipality of Ås to TV 2.
The municipalities affected are mainly Oslo, Enebakk, Ås, Vestby, Nesodden, Indre Østfold, Moss, Frogn and Våler, in addition to Nordre Follo. There is agreement in the municipalities on the need for coordinated coordination.
Moss Mayor Hanne Tollerud says councils that sat in crisis meetings over the outbreak in Nordre Follo on Friday night will have the same measures as in the neighboring municipality.
– The measures that were discussed, evaluated and approved by the city councils of the region are similar to those introduced in Nordre Follo, where restaurants and shops are closed, except grocery stores and gas stations, Tollerud tells Moss Avis.
The case is being updated.
