We have been hunting the wolf intensively this past week, where the Norwegian Environmental Protection Agency has also contributed by helicopter.
The Ytre Sogn and Sunnfjord wolf has been hunted for more than two years. He has been nicknamed “Lucky” by the hunting team, who have been close to us several times, but have not reached their goal.
Friday afternoon they close.
– We have been hunting him continuously since Tuesday, and about 10 minutes ago we shot him, says hunting leader Stein Mortensbakke.
“Lucky” was shot around 3:20 today, on Eidevatnet west of Sørbøvågen.

– Mix feelings
Since the wolf is far from the wolf zone in Austland and has caught a large number of sheep in the area, the state has granted a logging permit.
According to Bergens Tidende, the Vestland County Governor has paid in the last two years around 820,000 crowns in compensation for the loss of 358 lambs and sheep after the wolf.
In all, there have been more than 20 men in action every day for the last week, in addition to several dogs, snowmobiles and helicopters.

The male wolf emigrated from Sweden and probably tried to establish a territory.
But on the west coast, there are no wolves to mate with, unless a female dog shows up in the area.

It has not. In February of last year, the hunters came close to killing him. But then both gongs were lost. Thus, “Lucky” is the one that has survived the furthest from the wolf zone.
Mortensbakke has previously told NRK that he is not surprised that it is difficult to get hold of the wolf, which after a quarter was named “Lucky.”
