Ten people have been confirmed dead or presumed dead after the catastrophic landslide in Gjerdrum on December 30.
The first funeral after the landslide was held on Thursday. Eirik Grønolen, 31, was buried today in Jeløy Chapel in Moss.
In relation to the funeral, the immediate family has chosen to share a few words of memory with the press. TV 2 has received permission to reproduce the word of remembrance and three new images from Grønolen.

Grønolen died when the house he lives in was taken over by the rapid clay landslide. He was the first to be found by the rescue team. Cohabitating Kine escaped and survived the landslide.
“Many will miss you deeply and you will leave a great void. We find comfort in all the good experiences and memories we have. No one can take them away from us,” Grønolen’s family writes in a memoir.
They describe Grønolen as a kind and caring diffuser of joy who has left deep imprints on those who knew him.

“You took great care of those around you and you were very kind. He was a spreader of joy and easily made new friends. You were creative and inspiring, and there were many who looked up to you. You had confidence in yourself and you dared to dream big. “
– Never let yourself be limited
Grønolen grew up in Beitostølen, but later moved to Eastern Norway. There he was successful as a founder of TI and served as CEO of the Dunderverk company.
“You had an entrepreneurial heart from an early age and it continued to grow. You were creative and never allowed yourself to be limited,” the family writes.
Through Dunderverk, Grønolen worked closely with several of Norway’s best athletes. He has developed the websites of, among others, tennis player Casper Ruud, mountaineer Henrik Kristoffersen and rally driver Andreas Mikkelsen.
– We have lost a fantastic person and fellow citizen. I lost a friend, colleague and an important supporter of my team, tennis player Casper Ruud wrote on Instagram after the death was known.
The chairman of the Dunderverk board writes to TV 2 that we will deeply miss Grønolen.
– It’s incredibly sad. Eirik was a loving, skilled and dedicated colleague, and no less a warm and kind person whom we have now suddenly lost and seen too soon, writes Simen Gundersen Kjus.

Thanks to the rescue team
The family wants to thank you for all the care you have received from your friends and family during this difficult time.
In addition, the family thanks the rescue team and all those who have been involved in the days after the landslide.

The family also sends a special thank you to Steffan Feterik at the Home Veterinarian. Grønolen’s dog, Milli, was found in the avalanche pit two days after the avalanche and was cared for by Feterik along with other pets found in the area.
At the end of the memorial, the family writes that they send their deepest condolences to the other family members who have lost loved ones.
