The plane, which is said to have had at least 60 passengers on board, lost contact before falling 10,000 feet. Now possible findings of debris are reported at sea where the plane is missing. The airline director says the plane was in good condition before taking off.

A spokeswoman for the Indonesian Ministry of Transport has confirmed that they lost contact with an Indonesian Sriwija Airlines plane at 1440 local time on Saturday. The plane is said to have been near the Thousand Islands in Kepulaun Seribu when contact was broken.
There must be more than 60 people on board the plane, several children, Reuters reports.
The Indonesian newspaper Republika writes that the plane must have been delayed before take off.
The Indonesian navy has found the coordinates of the plane and released them to all ships around and at the scene, Officer Abdul Rasyid says according to Reuters.
At 2:40 p.m. Norwegian time, the Indonesian Red Cross reports that they have prepared to help both personnel and equipment to evacuate the missing aircraft.
Fell 10,000 feet
Information from Flightradar shows that a low-cost carrier Sriwijaya’s Boeing 737 plane took off from Jakarta airport at 07.37 a.m. on Saturday morning Norwegian time, before stopping an hour later off the coast of Indonesia. The plane is 26 years old, according to Flightradar.
The plane was heading to Pontianak in Borneo in Indonesia.

Contact was broken four minutes after the plane took off from Jakarta, Flightradar writes on Twitter. The plane is said to have dropped 10,000 feet in less than a minute prior to this, according to the website.
According to Reuters, Sriwijaya Air airline chief Jefferson Irwin Jauwena says the plane leaving the capital was in good condition.
It also says the plane was 30 minutes late before it could take off due to heavy rain.
They have found possible remains
The crews of two fishing vessels told CNN Indonesia they heard an explosion in the area at the same time the plane disappeared from radar. According to the local newspaper Inews, the Indonesian defense will assist in the search for the plane and the missing persons, and will now have 11 ships searching the sea.
According to Reuters, Indonesian rescue teams have confirmed that they suspect they have found parts of the missing plane. Photos on Twitter shows that several ships are now searching the relevant area.
In Twitter reports from several locals about discoveries at sea in the area where the plane is missing. Among other things, cables have been found that may belong to the aircraft, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Just over two years ago, in October 2018, a Lion Air plane crashed on the outskirts of Indonesia just twelve minutes after takeoff from Jakarta. 189 people lost their lives in the accident. The plane was a Boeing 737 Max plane, the same plane that was also the Ethiopian Airlines crash in March 2019. However, it is not this type of plane that is missing in Indonesia now.
