Halvor Egner Granerud has created anger in Poland. Now you have been asked to take care of yourself.

It was a frustrated Granerud who spoke to Norwegian TV 2 after the show jumping week race in Innsbruck on Sunday afternoon.

Among other things, the Norwegian expressed that he thought the Poles were luckier with the conditions.

At the same time, he also believed that jump week leader Kamil Stoch performs so unevenly on the ground that he still thinks he can fight for the overall winner in jump week, even though he’s 20 points. behind the Pole before the last competition in Bischofshofen.

In a separate video aimed at Polish fans, Granerud apologizes for the way he has been perceived.

For the reactions have not been long in coming from the maddened Poles. Some have also made threats.

– Not cool messages

At a press conference Monday night, Granerud says he has received messages that he should be careful when he comes to Zakopane and Poland later this winter.

Granerud does not like what he reads.

– There are no interesting messages to see in the inbox, Granerud tells Nettavisen.

However, he thinks it will be good for him to travel to Poland in mid-January.

– In Zakopane, there is good security and many guards everywhere, so I think there will be no problems, says the Norwegian jumper.

Stöckl: – Not nice

National team manager Alexander Stöckl doesn’t like the messages Granerud has received, but he still doesn’t seem too worried.

– Unfortunately, there are many on social media who cross the line. Unfortunately, you can’t do too much with it. In the vast majority of cases, there are some who make an emotional statement in that moment, but when you meet them in person, it turns into something else, Stöckl tells Nettavisen.

– I don’t think it’s pleasant and I think it’s stupid to do those things, but unfortunately nothing can be done about it, says the national team coach.

Apparently the mood seems to have changed a bit among Polish jumping fans after Granerud shared a video in which he apologizes and explains in more detail what he meant by what he said after Sunday’s recession in Innsbruck.

Steinar Bjerkmann, press manager for the Norwegian national jumping team, says they have received a lot of positive feedback after sharing the video.

– Now seen by more than 300,000 users. It witnesses a great interest in jumping and I think most people experience the video as a genuine and strong video in which Halvor tries to explain his thoughts and how it went wrong, Bjerkmann tells Nettavisen.

Granerud now hopes that he can put the noise behind him and focus on the decisive competition at Bischofshofen.

There he is clear what he must do if he wants to have a chance to win the jumping week.

– I think I have to complete two almost perfect ski jumps. I hope luck. Then you can go. I feel like it’s a very simple approach to competition in the way that only perfect is good enough. Then we’ll see, says Granerud.

On Tuesday, there is a qualifier in Bischofshofen, before the jump week is decided with the race on Wednesday.
