The Chelsea manager may face an uncertain future.

On Sunday, it was another loss for Frank Lampard and Chelsea against Manchester City, the club’s fourth loss in seven Premier League games.

City appeared throughout much of the settlement as a team of a completely different class than Chelsea, and Lampard had little to do with Pep Guardiola, even on his own turf.

– It can happen sooner rather than later

Now The Athletic is reporting that Lampard is unsure at Stamford Bridge, and that the club doubts the direction everything has taken under Lampard’s leadership. Sources are also said to have told Athletic that Chelsea have already started looking for alternative solutions, if the current form continues.

Such a workaround may happen sooner rather than later, Athletic writes.

The newspaper emphasizes that it is a floating situation, and that it is conceivable that Lampard will maintain the position for the rest of the season, if the results improve. However, it is written that, as history with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has shown, there is a tendency that once the conversation has started, it is more about ‘when’ and not ‘about’.

At the time of this writing, Chelsea are in a disgusting eighth place in the Premier League, with Southampton just behind the table.

They also have a match under their belt at the London club. It is part of history that there are only three points to go to the top four, but the Chelsea management should be very concerned about the club’s shape curve, as well as the challenges experienced by the great signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.

– Problems in the closet

Athletic also mentions another challenge for Lampard; that is, what happens in the closet.

Sources have told the newspaper that the mood between Lampard and various players on the team, especially those outside the regular eleven, has gotten much worse lately. It must have been so bad that it is now a factor that will affect the board’s decision on Lampard’s future.

Regardless, the results mean something to Chelsea’s leadership, and they just haven’t been good enough lately.

Chelsea are now booked with three points less after the first 17 Premier League games (26) than at the same time last season.

This should be considered unacceptable, as the club has since spent over £ 200 million on transfers for players like Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy and Thiago Silva.
