The royal couple and the crown prince visited Gjerdrum on Sunday to meet with relatives, evacuees and rescue teams.
– Now we have had an exciting day behind us. We began by receiving an orientation from the emergency services, King Harald tells reporters outside the Olavsgaard Hotel.

Queen Sonja says it was moving to see all the torches and candles along the road when they drove in on Sunday morning.

The royal couple say they have heard shocking stories from the evacuees.
– I appreciate the work that the emergency services have done since the landslide occurred. They have been on their feet day and night to try to save material and people. They have recovered many, but unfortunately some are missing, and some have recovered who have died, says the king.

Crown Prince Haakon told a press conference in front of the Clarion Hotell Gardermoen that there are violent stories and strong impressions from the evacuees.

– There are many people who want to defend those affected, and that is good. And I see a strong local community, where it is good to live, a good environment and where the neighbors defend each other. I think that’s important too, he says.
He says he is thinking of those affected.
“It makes a great impression how much we defend ourselves in this country here,” says the Crown Prince.
Burning candles in the church
Shortly before 11 o’clock, the royal couple and Crown Prince Gjerdrum arrived, affected by an avalanche.
There they visited, among other things, the operating room of the Gjerdrum grow house where they were briefed on how rescue teams are working to search for survivors in the landslide area.
After the visit to the Gjerdrum house of culture, the royal couple headed to the church to light candles for the landslide victims.
In the church, the king, queen and crown prince received Bishop Atle Sommerfeldt in the diocese of Borg.
Later, the royal couple moved to the Olavsgård Hotel and the Crown Prince to Clarion Gardermoen. In both hotels, the royal family meets relatives and evacuees. They also meet with representatives of the municipality of Gjerdrum, as well as with the emergency services that contribute to the extensive rescue operation.

I keep looking for survivors
The fire service claims that they are still searching for survivors in the landslide area in Gjerdrum.
– This is still a rescue operation. It’s important to emphasize, Fire Service Operations Manager Kenneth Wangen told a news conference Sunday morning.

The fire brigade searched throughout the night and has expanded the search.
“We are mainly looking in buildings where there is hope of finding survivors,” Wangen said.
Five dead, five still missing
On Sunday morning, one person was found dead in the area of the landslide, for which five people were found dead after the landslide on the night of December 30. Three were found on Saturday, while one person was found on Friday.
