The Swedish national team is sanctioned with fines at the Tour de Ski.

The case is being updated!

It happens because one of the leaders has been careless about wearing face masks in connection with Saturday’s competitions in Val Müstair, writes Expressen.

Several situations were reported during Saturday’s race at the Tour de Ski where he was neglected with a bandage. Now, three cases have resulted in punishment.

– Yes it’s correct. We have imposed fines in three cases, juror Jussi Prykäri tells Expressen.

– These are cases in which people did not follow the instructions of the competition management. The use of a mask is mandatory, even in training areas during competition.

The leaders of the nations of Russia and France can also expect fines after being careless with the use of face masks. The fine is 250 Swiss francs, which is equivalent to about 2,400 Norwegian crowns.

Swedish national team coach Anders Bystrøm was unaware that the Swedes were fined when Expressen spoke to him on Sunday morning.

– I have only received information that we will go to the jury room and write on paper, says Byström.

– If it is about fines for someone who does not wear a mask, I hope to see some photos of who it is. But I guess it is one of the ski lubricators, it is difficult for those who come here after trying the skis and have to immediately put on a bandage. It’s a bit difficult to interpret, because they say it’s okay not to wear bandages when skiing, Byström continues.

The Swedish cross country coach later received confirmation that the violation involved one of the Swedish lubricators which was caught on camera.

Various outlets wrote on Saturday that the FIS collected photographic evidence after Saturday’s race in order to react against runners and leaders who did not follow the mask rules.

FIS Race Director Pierre Mignerey is now warning that if people continue to not follow the rules, they will lose their accreditation.

Tour de Ski competitions continue today, Sunday, with the start of the hunt in Val Müstair.
