After a couple of solid wins over the last few teams, it was time for a real test for the Oilers. It was passed and well regarded when a Dan Kissel in great shape led the way to league leader Frisk Asker.
Asker Recorder – Stavanger Oilers: 1–7
QUESTIONER: Dan Kissel was definitely the actor tonight at Askerhallen. The man in the golden helmet was involved in the first six Oilers scores when Frisk Asker was cut into his own ice.
– I don’t remember what happened before. It was a special night and sometimes you have a bit of “puck-luck” and I feel like I had it tonight, Kissel says before continuing modestly.
– We weren’t expecting this, that’s for sure! But of course we are extremely happy!
Kissel has the support of a brilliantly satisfied Henrik Holm. Sisteskansen believes that 2021 could not have started much better.
– It is an absolutely beautiful start to the new year. We played an absolutely perfect away game! The four rows are still thundering and Frisk has no chance today. It’s that simple, Holm smiles.
Fun start
It started off smoothly and neither team got off the blocks, but the Oilers built up a slight lead early on. A couple of good opportunities were seized where both Brady Brassart and Ludvig Hoff were able to quickly gain recognition online. However, it was with the attempts, that until the greasers won the game.
We’ve seen some improvement in that part of the game lately and there were goals on the first try tonight. Tommy Kristiansen stepped in front of goal and made no mistake as the puck passed over the goalkeeper. The Oilers were up 1-0 midway through the first period. In all, there were four power play goals, a huge improvement over earlier in the season.
– Nothing has really happened, but we know that when things go wrong, you just have to keep fighting. Today we are taking the four of us to the Vålerenga game and it is incredibly delicious, says Kristiansen.
However, the management should not last long. A slightly dull defensive game gave Frisk Asker a free pass along the mitt and then the puck was played in front of Holm. This meant that Viktor Granholm could score in a nearly open area.
At the end of the period, the Oilers were able to take the lead again when Markus Vikingstad broke through, but on a pass from David Morley, he put the puck right outside.
Pangstart in others
Where the first period was of the regular type, he was served something entirely different after the first break. The Oilers came out in a hundred and barely a minute passed before David Morley scored in overtime. That’s after Dan Kissel toured with half of the Frisk crew.
Just three minutes later it was Vikingstad who came forward with a shuttlecock. Something lucky, but it shows once again that it has been released in front of goal.
Then it was a stay before the Oilers really activated the charm. During the last four minutes of the period, there were three quick goals. That of Joey Martin, Morley and Kissel. Especially the latter played a six on the dice. Five scorers and one goal can be heard after two periods against Frisk Asker.
– We take advantage of the advantage and take good advantage of our chances. It is not always possible to take every risk, but we did it tonight. It was pretty even after first period, but then we managed to break them down, Kissel explains.
Classic transport stage
Unsurprisingly, third period has never been this exciting. Frisk Asker had probably talked about winning the last act, but it just wasn’t good enough. The greasers didn’t relax on the gas, at least not on the defensive. The work was consistently done to the letter.
– It’s beautiful to see. This is a bit of what we’ve been good at in the last few months. No matter the position and how it looks, we keep playing. We saw him against Grüner and Narvik, and against Lillehammer out. We paint and then the opponent looks heavy. It’s important that we continue into the future as well, so we’ll be respectful of the playoffs, Holm says.
This led to the period fading, but the greasers obviously had to have a new acquaintance online. Once again, the goal was in the lead when Chris Rumble burned out of nowhere. The disk seemed to have been saved, but Niklas Dahlberg looked for it more. Down the line, Brassart gave the puck a little nudge, just enough for the score to be credited.
Towards the end, the Oilers were able to score two and three more, but that game was halted at 7-1. A solid scare for the competitors and not least for Vålerenga who are waiting until Tuesday.
