An American judge rejected a lawsuit by Republicans who believed Vice President Mike Pence should have the power to reverse the outcome of the presidential election.

The plaintiffs on Friday obtained the go-ahead from federal judge Jeremy Kernodle in Texas, who in turn was appointed by President Donald Trump.
It was Republican Congressman Louie Gohmert and a group of Republican voters from Arizona who sued. They believed that Pence should be given the opportunity to choose which electoral votes to count when the next president of the United States is formally appointed by Congress next week.
The background was the vice president’s role as head of the Senate. But this argument did not convince Judge Kernodle.
Neither Pence himself nor the United States Department of Justice. Indeed, Pence was sued by his own fellow party members, and the ministry, which represented him in the case, claimed that the lawsuit was directed against the wrong person.
However, Gohmert and his followers do not give up. They have filed an appeal, according to The Guardian.
In the wake of the US elections, Trump has made several undocumented allegations of voter fraud. Trump and his allies have filed around 50 demands to change the official election results. Almost all of the lawsuits have been dismissed in court or dropped.
