Wenche and Finn lost their home in the landslide

– We are in shock to say the least. We no longer have a home to go to, Wenche Nilsen (70) tells Dagbladet.

She and her husband Finn Nilsen (71) were awakened around 04:30 pm Wednesday by the police. They were then told to get out of the house immediately.

– Fortunately we had traveled to the cabin in Valdres, but I completely shudder when I think about what could have happened if we were still at home. I’m still shaking, says Nilsen.

RB mentioned the case for the first time.

– Unbearable questions

The couple plan to stay in the cabin for a few more days, but after this they will move their daughter who also lives in Gjerdrum. Your home should not be affected by the landslide.

Her husband Finn says that he has been trying to find neighbors all day.

– A woman was rescued by helicopter and is now safe. What I fear most is that the others will not come out. It’s a big, unbearable question, he tells RB.

Ten to go

Overnight searches of the landslide area have been conducted with drones, helicopters and dogs, to no avail. Ten people still have missing status after the major landslide that occurred at Ask in Gjerdrum municipality as of Wednesday night, Dagbladet previously reported.

The fire service is continuously working to locate the houses where the ten missing people may be after the landslide disaster.

– It’s a big task. Those that are missing may be inside some of the houses. The houses we’re talking about have moved up to 400 meters and are difficult to locate, Operations Manager Morten Thorsen at Romerike Fire and Rescue Service tells Dagbladet Thursday morning.

However, the leader of the police task force, Roger Pettersen, is aware that a rescue operation is still underway and that there is still hope of finding people alive.

– We are in an important phase and we use daylight, but we are looking for survivors. It is important for us to clarify.
