The taxi ride, which usually costs 500 crowns, suddenly costs 7,000 crowns.

This is a misuse of TT cards and is reported to the police, says Jesper Wiig in the county municipality.

Before Christmas, Aleksander Erstad (37) had to take a taxi 6.5 kilometers. For this short trip, the driver took 7,000 crowns, writes NRK Møre og Romsdal.

The 37-year-old man has cerebral palsy, mental retardation and is in a wheelchair. Erstad is among the 100,000 in the country who can travel for free with the so-called TT card.

According to the family, the taxi driver is said to have told Aleksander that it was a good idea to spend as much money as possible on the card before the new year, writes NRK, who has also spoken to the taxi driver.

The taxi driver has misunderstood how the plan works, says Karsten Aak from the NRK Association for the Blind. There won’t be less money on the card next year, even if you don’t spend the money this year, Aak says.

The Møre og Romsdal County Municipality is responsible for the TT card scheme. Section leader Jesper Wiig believes the incident is an abuse of the TT scheme. Wiig also says the county municipality will report the case to the police.

The money for the 37-year-old man has now been returned.
