This is confirmed by Operations Manager Brit Randulff in the Southwest Aftenbladet Police District.

– We were notified that a dead person had been observed at sea at Lervig Brygge at 09.35. The person has now been picked up at sea, but it’s too early to say anything about what happened or who the deceased is, says Randulff.

An attempt was made to resurrect him, but the man’s life could not be saved. A local doctor declared him dead.

Police are now checking missing persons records.

Stein Torjusen, chief of operations in the Southwest Police District, says at the scene that a person was found in the water and that the police believe it is an accident.

– There is no suspicion of anything criminal, says Torjusen.

The case is being updated.
