In 2019, 1,066,000 Norwegians watched the TV show when Haddy Njie led the traditional broadcast to NRK for the fourth time, along with Mikkel Niva.

This means an increase of 183,000 Norwegians who sat in front of the screen this year. This year’s broadcast was directed by Marte Stokstad and Mikkel Niva.

– Christmas this year is probably special for a lot of people, so it’s nice to have something around that everyone can gather around. Traditions are strong in this country. This also applies to the Countess and Headmistress, who is a sure winner and achieves high marks year after year, says Marcus Fredheim in NRK’s analysis of Dagbladet.

But even with the increase, this year’s figures are not a record. The peak year was 2014, when “Kvelden før Kvelden” averaged 1,635,000, NRK reports to Dagbladet.

The same goes for the Countess and the Director, who had higher numbers in 2013, 2014 and 2017.
