– It has been slippery throughout the district since midnight until now. It has been the so-called “black ice”, where you can hardly see that there is ice on the road, says operations manager Bjarte Rebnord in the West Police District at 06.10.

During the night there have been two accidents on the slippery roads.

Drove on the rock wall

On the national road 13 at Låtefoss in Ullensvang, a car collided with the mountain wall. The police were notified of the incident at 00.18.

– There is significant material damage to the car, says Rebnord.

There were two men in their 20s in the car, both of whom were conscious when emergency services arrived at the scene.

– One of the people complained of foot pain. They were both taken to Odda hospital for testing, Rebnord claims.

He says emergency services describe the place as “very slippery.”

– There is no suspicion of blood alcohol content, nor have driver’s licenses been seized, says the operations manager.

The car ended up on the roof

At 01.26, the Western Police District was notified of another accident on County Highway 49 at Hisdal in Samnanger.

– A car lost control, went over the railing and ended up on the roof. It was very slippery in place, says Rebnord.

There were five young men in the car and they all escaped.

– Everyone knew when the emergency services arrived. There is no suspicion of blood alcohol content and no driver’s licenses have been seized.

All of the people were taken to Haukeland Hospital, says the operations manager.

– There is a zone of 80 on the site, so it will be examined for damage at high speed, he says.
