The organizer is reported for infringement of the Infection Control Law.

On Sunday evening, the police received a report of a gathering of many people at an address in Sarpsborg.

– The patrol searched and found 24 people in total. They are all affiliated with the same association, and those responsible are reported for violations of Covid regulations, writes the Eastern Police District on Twitter.

Operations manager Kjetil Ringseth tells VG that further reporting may be relevant.

– We only inform the organizer after an evaluation in consultation between the patrol and the lawyer on duty. We basically inform the organizer, but we have personal information about everyone on the site and that may change, we do a new assessment afterwards, says the operations manager.

He does not want to give more details of what type of association it is, but says that it is not a religious meeting, to which the police of the same municipality went two days ago.

Banned with indoor events

Recently, there has been great infection pressure in Sarpsborg Municipality. With 149 cases of infection, this past week was the worst since the corona outbreak began in March.

On Tuesday this week, the presidency in Sarpsborg held an emergency meeting with another local regulation to reduce the number of infections in the municipality. With certain exceptions, all indoor events were banned from December 23 to January 7.

Police broke up a religious gathering with more than 20 participants on Christmas Day. The organizer was denounced for violating the regulations of the municipality’s crown.

– A misunderstanding

Only two days have passed since the police moved to another illegal gathering in Sarpsborg. On Friday December 25, the police received information about a religious event in the Albanian cultural and religious community in Østfold.

When the police arrived, there were 22 people present in the room.

Albania’s culture and faith community magnet Ardian Haliti told VG at the time that they were unaware that indoor events were now prohibited.

– It must be the only rule we don’t have with us. We have followed all the rules, but we have not seen this information. It was a misunderstanding, Haliti told VG.

The organizer was denounced for violation of crown regulations.
