Slippery roads and flooding in eastern Norway

Several minor accidents were reported on the road in eastern Norway on Sunday night. Several mountain passes are closed or have column conduction.

– We advise road users to drive carefully and in accordance with conditions, says traffic operator Annie Serup in Vegtrafikksentralen east to NTB.

There is a lot of rain, snow and mud on the roads. Much of the salt that is deposited during the day rains down at night and therefore the roads become very slippery.

– There is more than enough to do, not only due to the snowy weather, but also due to clogged drains and water on the road around eastern Norway. Our contractors are taking action, says Serup.

At Bingenkrysset on Indre Østfold, a car hit what is probably a flood on the road. It was first reported that it was about to sink into a river or stream.

Two adults climbed onto the roof of the car, according to the operations center.

– The last we have heard is that the water has reached the windshield and that the car continues to descend. They’re both cold, and it’s probably dark and unpleasant, Operations Manager Svein Walle in the Eastern Police District tells NTB.
