Tromsø can expect gusts of up to 30m / s on Monday. As a result, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow warning.

– It’s an extension of the warning that came out today, says Sevin Muller, a state meteorologist at the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

Strong gusts of wind

On the first day of Christmas, Værvarslinga, in northern Norway, declared that Sunday would be the windiest day.

– There are strong gusts of wind in Salten and now even Troms. They will move north by Monday, Muller explains.

The danger warning for Monday lasts from 00:00 to 14:00. The gusts of wind will thus diminish on Monday afternoon.

In addition to a wind warning, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a yellow warning for moderate icing on ships in Troms.

Set ferries

Such strong gusts of wind have several possible consequences.

– It is important to take care of loose objects, they can fly, says Muller.

In addition, possible snowdrifts on the mountain can create problems for the image of traffic.

– You have to be careful and be prepared so that not everything goes according to plan, says the meteorologist.

The weather has already ensured that the Ullsfjord ferry is canceled, as well as the speedboat from Skjervøy to Tromsø.
