– This indicates that the driving conditions are challenging, so everyone should be encouraged to drive carefully and in accordance with the conditions, says the operations manager in the eastern police district, Finn Håvard Ås.

Police have responded to several road accidents in eastern Norway on Christmas Day. Among other things, there have been drops and collisions.

At Vestby, a driver lost control of the car and hit the railing. In Våler, two cars have been involved in a frontal accident.

– It is slippery outside and then you have to adjust the speed to the line, says Ås.

So far there have been no serious accidents.

– Various messages that it is slippery

The Oslo police have moved in three drops in Asker in the last half hour.

– There are several reports that it is slippery outside and I know the road traffic center has all staff available outside to plow and get out, says operations manager Vidar Pedersen.

Pedersen says they assume the main road network will be relatively empty throughout the day. But on small roads it can get slippery.

– So I would definitely go out there and recommend people to drive under the conditions and take it easy. If you don’t have winter tires on the car, you should at least stay put.

Difficult driving conditions in various locations

Lots of rainfall and difficult driving conditions were forecast at the mountain passes this weekend.
A strong low pressure from the North Atlantic dominates the climate throughout the country.

Difficult driving conditions will affect the mountain passes to the east of the mountains and to the south.

Yesterday, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration encouraged people to check the weather forecast.

– Those who, for example, have thought about Hardangervidda should come in and check the weather forecast before embarking on a journey to the east or west, said road operator Ketil Molvær.
