– There is rarely a large flow of water in Akerselva now, says Inger Karin Engen, hydrologist on call at NVE. In the next few days there may be more.

In late October, the water in Akerselva flowed violently. People were asked to be careful. Then the water flow was five times higher than normal in autumn. The Water and Sewerage Authority then released 25,000 liters of water per second from Maridalsvannet.
Since then this has been reduced to 2500 liters. Now the pressure is rising again. In fact, the quantity has increased to 30,000 liters of water per second. This is six times higher than normal in the fall.
Less often than every five years
– Flows fresh. This is what we expect to happen less often than every five years, Engen says.
She is a hydrologist at the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE).
An orange warning has been issued. This means that one must be careful when approaching the river and that the owners must keep an eye on the situation and protect themselves.
May cause serious injury

Important temperature
– It’s very humid in Marka. Therefore, there is a large influx to Maridalsvannet. And now more rainfall is forecast for the next few days, Engen says.
Point out that temperature can have a lot to say about whether there will be even more water in the river in the future.
– If it gets a little colder than forecasters have predicted, the precipitation settles like snow. Then the influx will not be so great above Maridalsvannet. If, on the other hand, it gets a little softer, it can be even smoother, Engen says.
According to Yr, a total of around 70 millimeters of precipitation was reported in Oslo on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Ask people to be careful
The meadow in NVE lives even near the river by Frysja.
– I have noticed that it flows fresh. People should be careful when walking near the shore. There has been some excavation, erosion, along the hiking trails, he warns.
Aftenposten was on Friday evening at 9.30pm in Vøyenfallene, north of Sannergata. Then the stream of the waterfall was diverted many tens of meters. Thus, the pathways and stairs were smooth as a mirror as the water vapor settled on the ground and froze to ice.
