Low pressure destroys the Christmas idyll of much of the country.
– There is a great low pressure coming from the Atlantic that will dominate the climate throughout the country. It carries a lot of humidity from the south, and then Østafjells is the hardest hit by that climate, meteorologist Jon Austerheim tells Nettavisen.
– There are many forecasts of danger for Østafjells and the southern mountains, says the meteorologist.
On the Yr pages, you can see that up to 62 hazard warnings have been posted. Most of them deal with the wind in the north of Norway or the rainfall in the southeast of the country.
– It starts tomorrow with snow in Sørlandet, which will eventually turn into rain. Saturday will not be very large amounts, but the rain can get supercooled in some places, warns the meteorologist.
– It will be quite powerful
– On Sunday, precipitation will also come in the form of rain in quite a few places, especially in the lowlands and the far south. In height, on the other hand, there can be up to 30 centimeters of snow, says Austerheim.
Especially Sunday can be humid in eastern Norway. In the capital, only on Sunday 44 millimeters of rain were registered.
Also on Monday, heavy rains are reported. Therefore, a yellow flood and landslide hazard warning was issued on Sunday and Monday.
– There will be quite heavy rains. The snow line will be around 300 meters, so in coastal areas and in the lowlands, most of the precipitation will likely come in the form of rain and sleet, Austerheim tells RB.

Low pressure will also cause gloomy weather in the mountains of southern Norway:
– Driving conditions can be quite challenging on mountain passes, with lots of snow, says the meteorologist to Nettavisen.
Strong wind
Further west, the weather will be much better:
– In western Norway there will be some wind, but not much rain.

Northerners are not so lucky. In terms of precipitation, it won’t be that bad, but the wind can create problems, says the meteorologist.
On Sunday, strong local gusts of 27-30 m / s are expected in Salten, Saltfjellet, Ofoten and Sør-Troms, in addition to heavy snowfall in several places.
