Now the police denounce the organizer for violation of the Infection Control Law: – It must be the only rule that we do not have, says Imam Ardian Haliti.
On Friday morning, the police broke up a religious meeting with 22 people in Sarpsborg. Participants must have gathered for Friday prayer in the Albanian cultural and religious community in Østfold.
Shortly after, the Eastern Police wrote that they would report the matter due to a violation of the regulations on the prevention of corona infection.
All indoor public events are currently banned in the municipality, after local regulations recently tightened.
– We received the notification of the collection at 13:05 today. When our police patrol arrived, there were 22 people present. Therefore, the police have produced a report on the matter, the director of operations Ronny Samuelsen informs VG.
It is the organizer who will initially be reported, but Samuelsen claims that the police have written down the names of all the participants in order to detect a possible infection.
Albanian faith and culture magnet Ardian Haliti tells VG that they did not know that indoor events were now banned.
– It must be the only rule we don’t have with us. We have followed all the rules, but we have not seen this information. It was a misunderstanding, says Haliti desperately.
The Imam says that they follow all the information from the municipality and try to do everything right.
– We have a book where we write all the names, we have alcohol in our hands at the doors and we keep a good distance. It is forbidden to come if someone feels bad, he explains and adds:
– Our room can accommodate up to 100 people, but we have given notice that we cannot be that many, says Haliti.
– But if you had all the other rules, why didn’t you get this one?
– I do not know. Now I see that it is in the newspaper and on the website of the municipality, so we have not been good enough to verify, responds the magnet.
In addition, he says that the congregation has now asked that it be explained to the municipality.
– Of course, we will cancel Friday prayer next week. And it will be canceled until it is allowed again.
