All of Norway will be hit by strong winds in the early part of Christmas in space. In eastern and southern Norway, the wind is capped by large amounts of precipitation.
– There will be real storms in southern and eastern Norway. There will be a lot of precipitation and it will be heavy this weekend, on-duty meteorologist Lars Andreas Selberg at the Meteorological Institute tells VG.
You should really enjoy the hours of sunshine on the first day of Christmas, because it will be over soon. Meteorologist Selberg explains that the cause of the storm that is expected in the next few days is a large low pressure outside Iceland. Low pressure dominates the meteorological situation of the entire country.
According to the meteorologist, the precipitation will probably come in the form of rain in the lowlands and snow in the highlands and inland.
– It’s hard to say anything about the snow line. It will snow quite a bit in the mountains and inland regions starting on Saturday in eastern Norway and southern Norway. In the lower areas it will probably change to rain eventually. In some places, the temperature hovers around zero degrees, and then it’s hard to tell whether it will snow or rain, says Selberg.
– But the driving conditions are most likely difficult.
According to Yr.no, almost 90 millimeters of rain was forecast from Saturday to Tuesday, and a landslide hazard was also announced.

The storm can be good for patient Christmas tourists in the mountains. It will be a good recharge with snow in many places and good conditions for skiing during Christmas.
– You must be careful if you are going to cross the mountains of southern Norway this weekend. There will be strong winds, which will apply to mountains across the country, says Selberg.
The meteorologist believes that Southerners and Easterners will lose their Christmas weather in the next few days, but then it will be relatively similar weather across the country for the rest of Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
– There are not many dramatic events in northern Norway this weekend, but there may be some wind in exposed places for a period, perhaps even a storm. There may be some snow, but it is quite small. The weather will remain dry and on the downside this weekend, but then temperatures will rise to around zero, he says.
In Nordland, however, a snowstorm was announced since Saturday morning.
– There is a little more weather on Saturday. There will be less degrees during the weekend, dry winds and from the southeast.

In central Norway and western Norway, strong winds will also affect the weekend weather, as well as some rain in the outer areas and snow in the interior and altitude.
However, the end of Christmas in space and New Years Eve will be better. So it is expected to be dry and cool throughout Norway.
– There will be less degrees in many places, as seen now. And there will be little precipitation across the country, says the meteorologist.
